Je viens de relire le manuel du AtoB, principalement la section sur les fusibles, et y retrouver : « Too small a fuse in an alternator line can cause major problems. If, for example, you have a 100 amp alternator and you only put a 100 amp fuse on, then on start up and when cold, a 100 amp alternator can produce about 120 amps. This will blow the fuse and because you have open circuited the alternator, this will result in the destruction of the alternator. So it is vital that an alternator cannot blow its fuse under normal operating parameters as this will be an expensive mistake. Always fuse higher rather than to low. »

Ayant un alternateur de 60A, j’avais bien respecté ce conseil en installant un fusible de 100A. Mais du coup, j’ai une frayeur : quand est-ce que ce fusible a grillé ?? Car si c’était pendant le fonctionnement du moteur, l’alternateur aurait été déconnecté de la batterie moteur... Heureusement, il y avait les batteries de servitude pour récupérer la charge. J’ai bon ?
Par contre, s’il s’agissait du fusible près de l’alternateur qui avait grillé, alors là j’imagine que l’alternateur aurait lui aussi grillé (ou juste le régulateur ?) ? Possibilité d’incendie ?
